Street accident
Street accident has become a common incident (ঘটনা) in our country. Every day we can find the news of street accident in the dailies (দৈনিক). An accident is a mishap (দুর্ঘটনা) that happens suddenly. A street accident may happen anywhere (যে কোন জায়গায়) and at any moment (যে কোন মূহুর্তে). The causes of street accident are many. The main reasons are the reckless (বেপরোয়া) driving, over-taking of one vehicle by another, driving by unskilled (অদক্ষ) drivers. Another reason is violation (অমান্য) of traffic rules. Over loading of vehicles is another reason for accidents. Even the police cannot control the traffic rule breakers.
They knock down the small vehicles and cause accidents. I witnessed (প্রত্যক্ষ) a serious accident that happened yesterday at Uttara. . I was going to school at 10 a.m. A little girl was crossing the road near our school. A truck was coming with full speed (গতি). The driver of the bus tried his best to control the speed, but failed. In the twinkling of an eye (চোখের পলকে) the truck knocked her down and ran away (পালিয়ে গেল). The girl was changed into a lump (পিন্ড/থোক) of flesh. Fresh blood was flowing (প্রবাহিত) on the street. It was quite unbearable (অসহ্যনীয়) to me. I could not but shed tears. Passer-by (পথিক) raised (তুলল) a hue and cry (হৈ চৈ) and came to the spot (জায়গা). I also ran there. I cannot forget that terrible (ভয়ানক) accident. In the road accident, many live are nipped in the bud (অঙ্কুরে বিনষ্ট হওয়া). Many a family losses the only earning member. Many people become crippled (বিকলাঙ্গ). Street accident makes our children orphans (এতিম). Many wives (স্ত্রী) become widows (বিধবা). So street accident is like a curse (অভিশাপ) in our life. Necessary steps should be taken to prevent (প্রতিরোধ করা) street accident.
