A Paragraph about "A farmer", or, The life of a farmer
The Life of a Farmer
The person who does the work of farming is known as a farmer. Bangladesh is an agro-based (কৃষি-নির্ভর) country. All the people of our country directly (সরাসরি/প্রত্যক্ষ) or indirectly (পরোক্ষ) depend on agriculture. A farmer is a very important person in our country. Generally a farmer lives in a village. His house is made of corrugated (ঢেউ তোলা) iron sheets or straws (খড় কুটা). In our country the life of a farmer is not so good. He is illiterate (নিরক্ষর). He does not know how to cultivate (চাষ করা) his land scientifically (বৈজ্ঞানিকভাবে). He earns his livelihood (জীবিকা) by the sweat his brow (মাথার ঘাম পায়ে ফেলা). He gets up very early in the morning.
Then he
takes a little breakfast. He goes to his field with his wooden (কাঠের তৈরি) plough (লাঙ্গল) and a pair (জোড়া) of bullocks (বলদ/ষাঁড়). He cultivates and prepares his land with simple handmade tools (হাতের তৈরি যন্ত্রপাতি) sometimes he is too busy that he cannot
make time to go home for his lunch. In good or bad weather he has to work hard.
He does not know what rest is. A farmer has both pleasures and pains (বেদনা) in his life. He gets pleasure when he has a good harvest (ফসল). But he gets
pains when his crops are destroyed (ধ্বংস) by droughts (খরা), floods or cyclones. Though a farmer works hard he does not enough to
eat. He lives from hand to mouth (দিনে এনে দিনে খাওয়া). He also suffers many diseases. An ideal farmer is an asset (সম্পদ) to the country. Though the service (কাজ) of a farmer is great important, he
does not get his due respect. So we should have soft feeling for him so that he
can lead (পরিচালনা করা) decent (সুন্দর) life with dignity (সম্মান).
