A day labourer
A day labourer is a person who leads (চোলিত করা) his life by the sweat of his brow (মাথার ঘাম পায়ে ফেলা) in various fields. He is quite (সম্পূর্ণ) known to all. He is healthy, strong and stout (শক্তিশালী). He usually lives with his family in a hut (কুঁড়েঘর) in the village and in a slum (বস্তি) in the town. He lives in a subhuman (মানবেতর) life. Most of the day labourers in rural areas work in the field. They plough (লাঙ্গল দিয়ে চাষ করা) the land, plant the seedlings (চারাগাছ), weed (আগাছা পরিস্কার করা) the plants and harvest (ফসল কাটা) the crops. That is why, (যার কারনে) In rural area he is usually employed (নিযুক্ত করা হয়) in agriculture. On the other hand, In the cities and towns they are often employed in construction (নির্মাণ) works. He gets up early in the morning and goes out in search of work. He works morning to evening according to the direction (নির্দেশনা) of his employer (নিয়োগদাতা). In the evening he gets his wages (মজুরী). Then he goes to market, buys his daily necessaries and return to his house. He has both pleasure and pains (দুঃখ). If he earns more, he gets pleasures. When he fails to do that, he gets pains. Sometimes he and his family go without food. However he is in great demand (চাহিদা) in harvesting season. The life of a day labourer is full of sorrows and sufferings .
In good or bad weather he has to do work hard. He leads a very simple (সাধারন) life with his family. He can not send his children to school. He can not go to a qualified (দক্ষতা সম্পন্ন) doctor for treatment (চিকিৎসা). He helps to produce food but can not get enough food. He builds houses for the rich but he lives in a slum or poor hut. His social position is as low as his economic condition . He does not know what rest is. Though the service of a day labourer is great important, he does not get his due respect . So we should have soft feeling for him so that he can lead decent life with dignity .
