Bayazid's Devotion to His Mother
Once upon a time there lived a boy named Bayazid. Bayazid was a small boy. His mother was ill. One night he was studying by the side of the bed of his ailing (অসুস্থ) mother. All on a sudden (হঠাৎ), his mother woke up (জেগে উঠল). Then she told Bayazid to give her a glass of water. By hearing this, Bayazid went to the kitchen to bring water. But he found there was no water in the pitcher (কলস). He searched (খোঁজ করল) water here and there (এদিক ওদিক) but in vain (ব্যর্থ হওয়া).
Then, he decided to fetch (আনা) water from the nearby (নিকটবর্তী) fountain (ঝর্ণা). Then he took the pitcher and went to the fountain for water. He came back home filling (পরিপূর্ণ) the pitcher. He poured (ঢালল) water into the glass and came to his mother. He found that his mother was fast asleep (ঘুমানো) again. He did not want to disturb his ailing (অসুস্থ) mother. He remained (থাকল) standing beside his mother's bed. Thus the rest (বাকি) of the night passed by (অতিক্রান্ত হল). But his mother did not wake up. He did not go to bed thinking that his mother might get up from sleep anytime. If she did not find him ready with drinking water, she might be shocked (মর্মাহত). However, his mother woke up in the morning. She found Bayazid was standing with a glass of water in his hand. Then she embraced (জড়িয়ে ধরলেন) her son with deep love and prayed to God for her son. The prayer of the mother came true. Bayazid became a great devoted (অনুগত/নিবেদিত) of Islam.
