Rescuing a drowning boy
Last Saturday I went to the river for taking my bath (গোসল) at 10.00 am. I saw two boys bathing (গোসল করিতেছে) in the river. Suddenly one boy fell (পতিত হওয়া) into the deep water and cried for (চিৎকার করল) help. I rushed to (দৌড়ে গেলাম) the spot (জায়গা) without making any delay (দেরি করা). By the time I reached the Spot, the boy went underwater (পানির নিচে) and disappeared (অদৃশ্য হল). I was at a loss (কি করতে হবে বুঝতে না পারা) of what
I said to the other boy, “Does he know how to swim?“ the boy said, “No, he doesn‘t.” I became very afraid of realizing that the boy was drowning (ডুবে যাওয়া). I dived (ডুব দেওয়া) into the river and tried to rescue (উদ্ধার) the boy. But I couldn’t trace (সন্ধান/দিশা) the boy under the water. I dived several times and looked for him. After about three minutes I could trace him and pulled (টেনে উঠানো) him above (উপরে) the water. Very quickly I took him to the bank (তীর). The boy was then fully unconscious (অজ্ঞান). I knew the first-aid of a drowned man. I gave him first-aid. After a while, he got back his consciousness. By this time many ones gathered (ভীড় জমাল) there. The parents of the boy were also informed of the incident. They rushed to the spot. They said to me ”You have saved our son’s life. So we have been indebted (ঋণী) to you.” I said, “Don’t say so, it’s everyone’s duty to save one’s life“. Then I left the place.
