Dear Kim John,
Hope you are hale and hearty (সুস্থ্য ও সবল). I have just received your sweet note. You have wanted to know about the food and the food habit of the people of our country. Now, I'm giving you a short description of it.
Our people are used to taking three meals a day i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are fond of rice, fish, vegetables, and pulses (ডাল). Urban (শহুরে) people usually take bread, vegetables, eggs etc. in their breakfast. There are some people who take parata with vegetables and eggs. Again some people take loaves (রুটি) and banana as their breakfast. On the other hand, rural people usually have water-rice (পান্তা ভাত) as their breakfast. Some people also take chira, muri, khai (খৈ) etc. People usually take rice and one or two curries (তরকারী) for both lunch and dinner (রাতের খাবার). We have a large variety (বৈচিত্র) of fishes. Among them 'hilsha' (ইলিশ) is the most popular. It is our national fish. Meat (মাংস) is also popular in our country we also eat different kinds of fruits such as mango, jackfruits, (কাঁঠাল) banana, papaw, (পেপে) guava, (পেয়ারা) coconut (নারিকেল), pine-apple (আনারস) etc. But one thing I want to mention (উল্লেখ) here that the urban people often take Tiffin or light food but the rural people hardly (কদাচিৎ) take Tiffin or light food.
That's all for today. I'm keeping fine. Convey my best regards to your parents and love to the youngers.
Your loving friend
