The Game I Like Most - Composition
Everybody has a favourite game like football, cricket, volleyball, hockey and basketball etc. But my favourite game is football. I get much interest in this game. Whenever (যখন) I get time I like to play football with my friends. It is not a very expensive (দামী) game. Football was first played in England. Now it is played in all the countries of the world. In our country everybody takes interest (আগ্রহ) in this game.
Football is my favourite game because it has some special (বিশেষ) advantages (উপকারীতা). It is not as costly (দামী) and time consuming (সময় অপচয় হয় এমন) as cricket. It gives us much delight (আনন্দ). It thrills (রোমাঞ্চ) both the players and the spectators (দর্শক). It keeps us healthy and fit. It is good for our physical as well as mental (মানসিক) health.
Football is an outdoor (বাইরের) game. It requires (প্রয়োজন) a big field. The standard measurement (পরিমাপ) of the field is 120 yards (গজ) long and 80 yards wide (প্রশস্ত). There are two goal (গোল) posts at each end. These are eight yards apart and have a bar on them and eight feet above (উপরে) from the ground (মাটি). The game is played between two teams. Each team has eleven players. Of them one is goal keeper, two full backs, three half backs and five forwards. There is a referee (রেফারী) to conduct (পরিচালনা করা) the game.
At the beginning of the game the ball is placed (রাখা হয়) at the centre of the field. The referee whistles (বাঁশি বাজানো) and the game begins. Then each team tries (চেষ্টা করে) to pass the ball through (মধ্য দিয়ে ) the opposite goal post. But they are not allowed to touch (স্পর্শ করা) the ball with hands. Only the goal keeper can touch and catch it. There is an interval (বিরতি) of 10 minutes. The sides are changed after the interval. The team which scores (খেলায় অর্জিত পয়েন্ট) more goal wins the game. The game is highly exciting. Both the team try their best to send the ball through the opposite goal posts. The team which can score more goals is said to win the game.
Merits (সুবিধা) of football are too many to describe (বর্ণনা করা). The game of football teaches us obedience (আনুগত্য) to rules. It also teaches many moral (নৈতিক) qualities (গুণাবলী) and virtues (গুণাবলী) like discipline (নিয়মানুবর্তিতা), co-operation (সহযোগিতা) and leadership (নেতৃত্ব). It improves the health of a player and makes him prompt (কার্যদক্ষ), careful (যত্নবান), strong and hardy (শক্তিশালী এবং শক্ত). Besides, we get fresh entertainment (বিনোদন) by playing it.
There is no unmixed good on earth. Football has some demerits (অসুবিধা) too. Sometimes the game leads to bitter quarrel (ঝগড়া). Many students spoil (নষ্ট করা) their future career (ক্যারিয়ার - কর্মজীবন) by attaching much importance to football.
