Rahman, Munshiganj Town, and October 12: The annual sports were
held in Munshiganj Haraganga College with enthusiasm yesterday. The college
authority arranged this enthusiastic event as a part of co-curricular
activities in the current academic session. The annual sports were held on the
college ground in a befitting atmosphere. The minister of education was present
as the chief guest while the education secretary was the special guest.
The sports Meet started
punctually at 9.30 a.m. with the running with Olympic torch. This was followed
by the hoisting of the national flags and the flying of the pigeons of peace.
Immediately after this the march past took place and the minister took salute.
Then he took his seat and enjoyed the events. The most important events of the
sports were 100 metre sprint, 400 metre sprint, 800 metre race, javelin throw,
long jump, high jump, cycle race, weight lifting, dress as you like etc. The
performance in all the above events was of a high order and surpassed all the
previous records of the college. Joys of students knew no bound when they saw
their friends winning one after another events. Ratan, a student of class XI
also took part in the long jump and won the second prize. Immediately after the
sports had been over, trophies were given to the successful competitors by the
Minister. For each event there were three trophies. All the successful
competitors also get certificates of proficiency. After the end of the very
competitive events, the Minister delivered a fine speech in which he encouraged
the students to be specially attentive to physical exercise. He also appreciated
the result of this college and the nice arrangement.
Thus the most
attractive, aspired and ecstatic function of the college came to an end.
